Welcome to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ASSHU, where the collective leadership of Uganda’s secondary school headteachers converges for  days of collaboration, innovation, and shared vision.

Formation & History

About ASSHU

The Association of Secondary Schools Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU) started as Headteachers Association of Uganda in the 1980s later in 2006 it changed to National Association of Secondary Schools headteachers of Uganda (NASSHU), but upon advice from the line Ministry it changed to its current name in 2012. The ultimate goal is to bring together all headteachers of Government aided and private schools in Uganda. It plays a vital role in the initiation, design and implementation of educational policies and programs.

ASSHU works jointly with the Government and all other well meaning progressive and constructive individuals and groups for improvement of quality of life through provisions of education services. It also promotes unity and cooperation among all secondary schools in Uganda.

Central Region

Buikwe, Butambala, Gomba, Kalangala, Kampala, Kayunga, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Luweero, Mityana, Mpigi, Mubende, Mukono, Nakaseke and Wakiso

Mid-western Region

(Masaka, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu, Lwengo, Rakai

West Nile Region

Arua, Ajuman, Koboko, Moyo, Pakwach, Nebbi, Yumbe, Maracha

Eastern Region

Bugishu, Teso, Busoga and Sebei

Northern Region

Lango and Acholi

Rwenzori Region

Toro, Kaseese and Bunyoro

ASSHU leadership

ASSHU leadership is run and thrives on a decentralized structure; this structure is composed of six regions with semi-autonomous executive committees, they include:

To unify members and provide a forum for them to grow and to influence the agenda for quality education and exchange of ideas and good practices nationally and internationally.
